How To Make A Healthy Diet Plan For Unique Ayurveda Body Types

Have you ever wondered why some people can eat anything they want and still lose weight? Or why other people only have to look at food to gain weight? Ayurvedic diet holds the answers to this and many other mysteries.

The countless benefits of an Ayurvedic diet include achieving the right weight for your body type - and much more. Through Ayurveda, you'll discover that weight loss is as much about lifestyle - how you eat - as it is about how much you eat.

In Ayurveda there are 3 basic physical types - Vata, Pitta, Kapha, and 4 combination types. Each individual needs to eat right for his or her type. For example, people with a lot of Kapha in their constitutions gain weight easily, so they need to eat different foods, differently, and follow a different lifestyle, than those with lots of Vata.

Eat Taste Heal is a practical, and gorgeous Ayurvedic guide and cookbook which shows you how to eat a healthy balanced diet for unique Ayurvedic body types, or doshas. The authors present Ayurveda as a complete system for vibrant holistic health.

Eat Taste Heal introduces the Ayurvedic diet in a way that's thorough and complete, but at the same time engaging, understandable, and accessible. The authors lead you step by step through the ancient principles of Ayurveda, and show you how to use them to create a healthy modern lifestyle.

Chapter 1 Covers Ayurvedic Concepts In A Nutshell: Discovering your ayurveda body type or dosha; the 6 tastes of food; digestion, thoughts and emotions; how food becomes your body; food and the mind.

Chapter 2 is about buying, preparing & storing food: Why buy organic, Ayurveda & vegetarian diet, food vices & virtues, basic cooking techniques, stocking your Ayurvedic pantry, seasonal foods and sustainable solutions.

Chapter 3 shows you how to adapt your lifestyle to get the maximum benefit from your food - things that should be obvious but have gotten lost in our hurried modern lives - for example, sitting down to eat in a calm, pleasant atmosphere, giving thanks, and eating to heal our bodies.

Chapter 4 is about the rhythms of nature, which influence your health as much as the food you eat. The daily, nightly, monthly and seasonal rhythms of life are a part of us, and when we ignore them, that creates imbalances. The authors present Ayurveda as a way of bringing you back to your inner wisdom, and achieving balance in your life.

Chapter 5 covers food for healing & cleansing, home remedies, pregnancy & breast feeding, beauty and luster, feeding your body, mind, senses and spirit, plus 10 essential ingredients for health. Food As Medicine is my favorite part of Ayurveda. The joy of it is that you can do all that just by cooking dinner!

Eat Taste Heal is mainly a lacto-vegetarian cookbook. However, most of the recipes give dairy and gluten free options. There are a small number of recipes which include chicken and fish.

The recipes are wonderful, with outstanding pictures! Each recipe is designed to balance a particular dosha through a precise balance of all six tastes: sweet, sour, salty, bitter, pungent and astringent. Not only that, most of the recipes have suggestions for balancing the other doshas. For example, Stewed Apples is a good recipe for balancing Vata. Omitting the grated ginger makes it good for Pitta dosha, and substituting raisins for dates works for Kaphas.

Each recipe has a dosha symbol displayed in the top left - green for Vata, purple for Pitta, and orange for Kapha. At the end of the book are dosha food lists, cooking charts, glossary, bibliography and resources.

Chef Johnny's recipes are of course, Ayurvedically organized. In the first section, they're grouped by breakfast, lunch and dinner recipes for Vata, Pitta & Kapha, followed by snack, beverage & Ayurvedic Basics. In the next section, recipes are grouped by type of food - main dishes, legumes, grains, etc. Yes, there are desserts!

Sample Recipe: Simple, easy, but gourmet Cauliflower & Green Beans with Dill Herb Sauce

About The Authors: Dr. Thomas R. Yarema M.D. is director of the Kauai Center for Holistic Medicine and Rearch in Hawaii. Daniel Rhoda is a former Wall Street whiz kid who became a certified Ayurvedic practitioner and student of Dr. Yarema. Ayurveda jump started his recovery from a debilitating joint condition at age 24. Chef Johnny Brannigan is an internationally acclaimed chef who incorporates Ayurvedic principles into his inspired recipes.

From The Introduction: "Eat Taste Heal is a celebration of food's ability to heal our bodies and our minds and to nourish our senses. We offer this book as a blessing on your own life's journey. We hope it tantalizes your taste buds and inspires a deeper exploration into your true inner nature." Dr. Tom, Dan, and Chef Johnny.

Whether you are vegetarian, vegan or omnivore, Eat Taste Heal will show you how to bring the knowledge of Ayurveda into your life, and eat right for your type - after helping you figure out what that might be! I recommend Eat Taste Heal highly for everybody who wants to be vibrantly healthy, full of bliss, and eat a delicous Ayurvedic diet.
