Toasted French Bread

Serve toasted french bread with artichoke dip, spinach dip, sour cream dip, hummus, refried beans, guacamole, salsa - find them all in our Sauces, Dips and Spreads recipes.

Use day old, firm skinny baguette(s), white or whole grain, for easy slicing. Remove the crusts if you like - but do it before you slice the bread! I think it's unnecessary, but maybe not if you're entertaining royalty.

Yield: 32 slices, 8 Servings

Total Prep And Cook Time: 45 minutes

Nutrition Data Per Serving (based on white bread): 92 cal, 18g carb, 1g fat, 208mg sodium, 1g sugars, 1g fiber, 4g protein. Low cholesterol, good source folate & selenium. Estimated glycemic load 11

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
  • Cut the baguette into thin slices (1/4 - 3/8 inch).
  • Place the slices on a cookie sheet and bake until light golden brown and completely dry, 15 - 30 minutes.
  • Serve toasted bread slices on a platter with some dips, and watch them disappear!
